I've Been Robbed!!!!

When we pulled into the driveway today I asked my husband why he removed the wreath from the front door. He said he did not. I know I did not.

Someone stole my red berry wreath.

Right off of my front door.

The front door that has the big spotlight pointing at it. The one that has a storm door that the thief had to open to get to the wreath.

This wreath tends to shed berries when moved. When we went to investigate I actually saw some berries in the snow. My husband pointed a little way down our front path,

"Are those berrries in the snow?"

You bet! I followed the berries all the way down the walk and into the wide street. They stopped in the middle of the street. I look all over the other side of the street but obviously the perp had gotten away by car...

I was thinking, perhaps the teenagers across the street had taken it and the berries would lead me to the red-handed criminals. I imagined confronting them and demanding my wreath back and then holding it above my head victoriously as I walked back home.

Instead I stood in the middle of the road with a confused look on my face.

Tonight I put another red berry wreathe on the door and LOCKED THE STORM DOOR.

HA! red berry wreath thieves, I had a SPARE. You can't thwart my resolve to add some color to my white house surrounded by snow!

I hope you got red berries all over your car. (Or your mother's car more likely.)

What kind of CRIMINAL would do that?

It is so violating when something like that happens. I know that things happen EVERYWHERE, but you get to feeling kind of safe with a small community feel in West Irondequoit. Last summer, so jerk stole my big hanging basket off my shepherd's hook in the front yard. Why? I felt so violated that someone would take my pretty flowers...

To think that someone would open your STORM DOOR, though--that is just so creepy--did any of your neighbors see anything?

OMG! That is the funniest/craziest/saddest thing I have heard in a long time.

I hope you find out who it was. Crazy people!

It's irritating because I know they didn't steal it because they wanted the wreath for their own decor. (Same with your flowers Karley!)

It was also irritating that they opened my door. We have a neighbor who is the watchdog of the neighborhood and he didn't see anything so I'm thinking the wreath is good and gone.

What is the matter with people today? Is that some sort of a prank by a kid, or is that an act of desperation by a fanatic home decorator that was so inspired by your wreath that all good sense left their mind and they HAD to have it? I truly cannot imagine what that person was thinking... In our old neighborhood, we once forgot to lock our (detached) garage, and someone went inside during the winter and stole our snow shovel... And then of course, there was the year I lived in my first apartment and someone stole my freshly cut Christmas tree off my porch before I could bring it inside... Very strange criminals running around out there!

I had forgotten about the Christmas tree thing. I do live is a somewhat nicer neighborhood than your first apartment so maybe I'll go with the idea of crazed home decorator. After all, I did almost steal those planters.....
