Stupid Tax

If you are at all familiar with Dave Ramsey you know what Stupid Tax is. For those of you not in the know I'll enlighten you. Stupid tax is when something dumb you do costs you money.

Last week was my stupid tax moment. Last friday I was running around frantically preparing for my parents 40th anniversary party. The car started supttering and then finally JUST DIED. Right there on the street. Luckily I have AAA. 20 Min later I was riding with a smelly tow truck driver who dropped me off at my house while my car went over to the local mechanic. I fretted because the truck is 10 years old and someday the cost to repair it will be more than it's worth. Would this be that time I wondered?

I got a call from the mechanic a little later.

Apparently the gas indicator light is blown and I RAN OUT OF GAS!!!!

This is the 3rd time in my life I've RUN OUT OF GAS. Had I been paying attention to the level rather than waiting for the light this would not have happened. The new rule in the house is that 1/4 of a tank is now considered EMPTY.

Cost to tell me I'm a dumbass=$61.25

Stupid Tax.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! That was way too funny!!! Not funny for you I realize, but as your former AAA repair woman, you know the one who brought you gas one out of your 3 times, and also jump started your car with my very own jumper cables, part of me was sad that you've moved on and no longer need my AAA servies :) Be glad it was only $61.25.

That's right! You DID bring me gas-IN SIGHT OF THE GAS STATION I MIGHT ADD!

I think the best one was when we waited until AFTER we were done shopping that time to call AAA.

And your road service was a lot less smelly than the guy that drove me home the other day!

I think you got off with a bargain! I'm not telling the stupid taxes I've paid recently.

He he! Yes, I guess it could have been worse!

Okay now that I've recovered from laughing so hard and thinking I might have...well let’s just say I have a weak bladder after giving birth. LOL I'm sorry you had to pay a stupid tax but it for me well worth the price to hear about Leighanne having been your personal AAA service woman in the past, LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing ;)

oh my gosh I almsot forgot about the time we were shopping, had a dead battery but decided we MUST finish shopping before we call AAA! And that wasn't too long ago so we were both "old enough" to know better, but it was worth every minute of shopping! That's what we need to do again, minus the AAA part of course :)

I still say AAA was going to come whenever we called and we were ALL THE WAY OUT THERE. So we might as well have finished what we went for!

Didn't we once go to the mall to Christmas shop and get stuck in a big hole because the lot was so crowded that we had to park on the edge of the parking lot and not in a space? And didn't we decide, oh well, we can either worry about it now, or worry about it when we're done shopping? So we went shopping? Ok, pretty sure that was my car and not yours, but still. And btw, now that you are married and your a mother and you have your own mortgage, does your dad still make you carry a big toolbox in the trunk of your car, just in case? Just wondering... I don't recall ever using it -- just wishing we had it that one night with the mailbox... :)
