Kathy up to supper and I teased Bess at the table & she went upstairs mad.  Bess & I went to social meeting at her church & Clara came over & stayed with Kathy. (R.) Stayed all night.

I like this. I think it's sweet that he teased her and she went upstairs mad. I like to think he's writing about whatever it is that stands out about his day. Apparentlty that was on his mind. I love it.

One of the things I also find fascinating about this is how often they dine with other people and how many things they do. They are newly weds without children so that may account for some of it. But it seems like they are always visiting or doing something interesting... It's a wonder what lack of TV, Internet & Cell phones can do for your social life...

I wish I lived in a world where more people just "visited".

I thought the same thing. Imagine how much time we would have for visiting if we didn't have so many distractions. Heck, we may even have time to build a mantel!

I sometimes wonder what it would be like around here if I made a "no tv for a week" experiment.
I don't know about my social life, but I would definaltely get a lot done around here and my reading list would be shorter!
And I would achive the "quiet" that I so long for....

I love the visiting too. Growing up right next door to my Aunt and my 5 cousins we played together and we could just drop in and visit because It felt like home. Even now when I go to my Mom's I often just pop over to visit my Aunt. Ah yes the TV and Computer how about suburban sprawl too.

BTW- My cousins love telling the story about how my parents had a color TV first and when The Wizard of Oz would come on they would run over to my parents house after watching the first part in BW at their house to see the rest in color.

I suspect the pace of life was a lot different. I've gone lots of nights without television and usually occupy those nights with more work or paperwork or things I have to do!
